The Most Dangerous Game

A scenario is playing out in the United States right now that could be the most dangerous game in the history of the US. The Game Master is Roger Stone and the game is called “Stop the Steal” and the players are deluded and disillusioned citizens. Stone incorporated what he likes to call a “grassroots movement” several years ago amid a massive fundraising effort. His “Stop the Steal” business is now engaged in deliberately inciting Americans to violence and sedition by denying the legitimate results of a secure 2020 election process.

By now it should be clear to most of the intelligent world that Joseph R. Biden is the winner of the 2020 election and the legitimate President-Elect of the US. But the Stone crowd, including people like Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany continue to use their now illegitimate pulpits to falsely claim that Trump is about to transition to a second term in office.

Mike “smug mug” Pompeo should be tossed out of office right now, but is instead on a contaminating 7 country farewell international tour. Kayleigh “my mouth turns excrement into sugar” McEnany continues to lie through her plasticly perfect smile every time she opens her mouth.

The most dangerous game they are playing is that they are feeding oxygen and fuel into the fire of a dangerously deluded and angry mob of Trumpists, Instead of acknowledging that Biden won “by a landslide” – to quote former president 45 when he received the same 306 Electoral College votes in 2016 – the Trump fanatics insist on the exact opposite.

With armed Proud Boys and Boogaloo Boys and Riot Girls threatening violence in the streets, Trump could be forcing America into a state of total anarchy, where military intervention and nationwide curfews could become the order of the day. He deliberately did not do what he should have done – concede – because he can never admit that he lost. And aided by Roger Stone and Steve Bannon and the GOP and his loyal staff he will continue to play this most dangerous game until he is removed from office.

In the short story of the same name, the protagonist wins in the end. Enjoy that first night’s sleep in the big bed, President Biden.

The way I see it.

Democracy Works

I don’t want to gloat, but remember that the American 2020 election was first called here at 5:00 a.m. on November 7. 2020.  I did send it to my Editor, but she was waiting for “official” verification. DARN – missed the scoop!

I will go one further and predict that the final Electoral College tally will show that Joseph Biden took a commanding 306 votes, well over the 270 required to attain the Presidency, while DJT garnered a losing 232, well short.

Granted, the popular vote was split, with Biden holding the majority by a meagre 4%. Enough to verify my prediction, and enough to indicate that the United States of America is anything but united. The best part of today was hearing President Obama chastize Republicans for their assault on voting integrity in America, He was shooting three pointers from half court while they were dribbling and drooling, unmasked, on the sidelines.

Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Lindsay Graham et al will go down in the anus of history as both dangerously stupid and #COVIDIOTS. While Trump golfs, coronavirus cases soar. Now that the election has been verified as legitimate in every way, don’t we all feel just rather silly for encouraging the Mango Mussolini to spew and contaminate democracy and public health with every TwitterTrashTirade? He Who Cannot be Named, use your final days in office to either lead or get out of the way.

You’re fired, Donald, and the next very dark chapter of your life is about to begin.

The way I see it

The Witch Hunt is Over

The Witch is dead.  Or at least in his death throes. It’s 5:00 am on Saturday morning November 7, 2020 and I’m calling the election. The 46th President of the United States of America is Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.

Writhing in impotent anger as the flames flicker out beneath his cauldron, Donald John Trump will be dragged kicking and screaming from the Peoples House. He has already declared that there will be no concession speech and that his illegal team is ready to sue any and all who dare to imply that he is a loser in this 2020 American Presidential election cycle. But lose he did, with both the popular vote and an Electoral College majority going to Sleepy Joe. Didn’t see that one coming did you, Mr. Impeached President?

The dust has yet to settle on the remaining vote count, and it is never over until the obese turtle shrivels, but it appears as if the remaining states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania are all going to Biden which will carry him well over the 270 Electoral College votes needed for declaring a Presidential victory.

And that lack of concession speech? Turns out it’s a courtesy, something else of which DJT was incapable, like being a President. When the votes are all counted, the next President of the United States of America will be sworn in on Inauguration Day, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 whether the former president concedes or not.

We should know officially by the end of the weekend, but I’m calling it now. The witch hunt is over, The witch is dead. Time to replant Michelle’s Garden. The way I see it.

Remember November 5

November 5 in England is celebrated as Guy Fawkes Day, a day of masked protest against oppressive neo-facist governments. Although the mask most of us are familiar with these days is designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Guy Fawkes mask is particularly fitting on this November 5 when the premature results of the American election will be announced. This mask may help prevent the spread of the STUPID-45 virus.

The mask was made famous in recent cinematic history by the anarchist hero of “V for Vendetta” in a stark black and white rendition. William Rookwood could be an allegorical figure representing every protester from Portland to Caledonia to Lagos to Minsk to Hong Kong. Unlike V in his farewell bed of roses on an explosives laden train, the historical Guy Fawkes was captured before he could blow up the Parliament Buildings. He was tried and sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered. While climbing up the hanging ladder, he jumped off and broke his neck, dying instantly in a final act of protest.

It would be fitting if the results of the US election were announced today and a victory declared against an oppressive, neo-facist President. Most of us are already masked in preparation – just don’t go climbing any ladders. We need all the anti-facist, pro-democracy voices we can find. From the results south of our border, it looks like half the population is unfortunately unmasked and infected. It will take a lot of work to unite these divided States of America.

Don’t worry though, because Joe has no intention of blowing up anything. He and Dr. Jill will just have to really, really thoroughly disinfect and wear masks until all the viruses are cleaned out of The People’s House. And then replant Michelle’s garden!

Until then it looks like at least one more week of  “sunny days” here in Canada, home of the trees, and land of the waves from coast to coast to coast.

The way I see it.

An Election, Writ Large, Part 2

In Part 1 of this series, I predicted that Canada would wake up to a minority Liberal government on October 22.

Here’s why. Canada is not the U.S.A. and most of us do not want a Trump type Prime Minister. Under Trudeau and the Liberals, regardless of the slings and arrows flung by mainstream media, Canada is doing just fine, thank you very much. We are in the top three countries in the world in which to live, an economy and job market that is steady with wages growing, an unemployment  rate below 6%, and a well regulated banking system.

We also have a Prime Minister who is more admired on the world stage for his intelligent global perspectives than he is in the local tar pits and colonial coffee shops. Although Canada under the Liberals is recognized globally as a shining star, we tend to self-deprecate, even deny, our successes here at home.

That, of course, is largely due to a mainstream media that spends most of its time reporting plane crashes rather than safe landings. Yes, our leader has had bumps along the way:  Khan vacations, Khalistan dress-up shows, Kinder-Morgan pipeline politics, and the expulsions of Wilson-Raybould and Philpott.

On the other hand, our leader does not wear a Yellow Vest, does not associate with Ezra Levant or Faith Goldy or Tanya Granic Allen; he loves diversity, welcomes new immigrants, energizes youth, and handles himself with class in the company of other world leaders, He has led Canada to continue to be a successful nation among nations. He espouses a strong belief in economic stability, environmental security, and social justice. And let’s face it – he looks good doing it – style and substance.

How are the Prime Ministerial wannabes doing? The Green’s Elizabeth May, who I admire deeply and who is one of my environmental education icons, has stumbled heading in to this one. The premature attempted seduction of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott fizzled. The NDP to Green candidate swap controversy was bizarre, and the recent confusion between the leader and the party on major issues was unsettling. Those missteps could have stopped a Green advance in its tracks.

Jagmeet Singh is genuine and articulate and empathetic and smart, but the NDP’s slow candidate selection process and a populace bombarded with alt-right conservative sound bites may not be able to accept his left-leaning brilliance. Timing is everything in this blood sport.

And then there is the candidate who wants to cut the red tape, deregulate, and open Canada for business, the Conservative Party’s Andrew Scheer, whose policies eerily reflect what is happening in the one-man show south of us. If that populist infection has spread too deeply into the Canadian psyche, we could see a Conservative minority. If only the basest get out to vote, we could wake up to four years of a Harper light majority.

With all due respect, the so-called Peoples Party of Canada and the Bloc may be left out of the running, so Bernier and Bouchet might want to prepare for the long, cold, lonely winter of our discontent.

This 2019 Federal Election will come down to a cage match between Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer. In moving forward, Canada will be much better off with the fabulous flawed human that we know rather than the devious dubious wolf in sheep’s clothing that we don’t.

The way I see it.
