Pipelines, Profits and Bad Fantino Karma

TransCanadaWell, well, the truth will out. It is no wonder that "Our Government"™ wants to gut CBC – if it were not for some of their excellent investigative reporting, we would still be in the dark about the nefarious schemes afoot in the governance of our country. The latest northern exposure comes from the revelations that "Our Government"™ and the National Energy Board buried a damning report on Trans-Canada and their pipeline safety transgressions. Shame. That wouldn't have had anything to do with the "no-brainer" over approving Keystone, would it?

No, how foolish of me. We know "Our Government"™ always has the best interests of hard-working, tax-paying Canadians at the forefront. It would be almost treasonous to suggest that they are really working for the corporate profits of big business and the upper 10% of Canadian society. Why, that kind of thinking could end you up on the CSIS watch list. Like Justin Bieber.

JulianForget Julian Fantino, who does not like finger pointing, and his shaftng of our Veterans; forget Pierre Poilievre and the hypocrisy of the "Fair Elections Act" which will crack down on the election fraud violations "Our Government"™ created; forget the Omnibus Bills that decimated environmental reviews; forget the millions of dollars spent on false advertising for a "Canada's Action Plan"™ job creation program that didn't exist; forget the $90,000 Senate expenses cheque and a PMO that does not have a clue (wink) about what is going on in the top office of Canada's government.

No, we do indeed get the government we deserve, and the generations of accounting, both social and environmental, that go with their decisions. Me, I'm going to be lining up with the Veterans in Julian Fantino's riding in 2015. This one's for you, Dad.

Oi, gevalt, Stephen! Such a fershtinkiner putz!

Share this post:

SaluteAh, Stephen, what you won't do to secure the loyalty of certain groups, well, at least the more conservative faction, in our multicultural Canadian society. Just think of the fundraising power, the business influence, the political lobbying power and the voter loyalty that your undying support for Israel will produce. Although your salute is a little too close to being insensitive. Oi vay!

And now, with your triumphant entry into Jerusalem, on your first actual visit to Israel, you and your business delegation will have secured a CRAP future. Although your welcome on the West Bank will undoubtably be cooler, there are not a lot of trade deals to win there, so no biggy. And besides, the way Netanyahu is building settlements, Palestine will disappear in a few years anyway. Displaced peoples are so inconvenient and get downright militant when they try to secure a homeland. I remember stories long ago of another group in the Middle East that tried this after World War 2 – lest we forget.Harperish

So Stephen, although you may try to hide your true intentions, we can see through the facade and know you are not playing with a full menorah. Your political researchers have served you well on how to maintain power in Canada. Such a macher, such a gonif!

Oi, Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Rob and Conrad VS Carol and Daniel

Share this post:

conrad and robIn this corner, we have the unusual tag team of one yet-to-be convicted and one convicted felon; in the other corner, we have an award winning broadcaster and an award winning journalist*.

The alleged and paroled felons (APFs) seem to possess an arrogance, sense of entitlement, and lack of awareness that is as colossal as their ignorance and ego, in that order; the awarded broadcaster and journalist (ABJs) possess an enerring sense of truth, justice, and the Canadian way.Carol OffDaniel

The APFs are rich, one being much richer and, by his own estimation, much smarter than the other; the ABJs are rich in character and constantly seeking knowledge.

The APFs appear to feel that laws do not apply to them, that everyone is picking on them, and that even after they're caught on video, whether smoking crack, or emptying out their office files, they're not guilty; the ABJs aren't buying it.

In a sane world, this assault on intelligence would never have taken place. But if you are rich enough, you can buy your own TV show and display your unique lack of Vision to the world. Sadly, if you don't clean up your pet's defecation, flies feed on it.

I hope that Carol continues to stand up for broadcasting and journalistic honesty, and that Daniel wins his case to protect his good name.  I hope that we have a bully free holiday season, that the good are treated to peace and love, and the wicked get their lumps.

*Note: the paroled convicted felon once had an award, but he was asked to give it back. Canada wasn't buying it either.

Also noted, convicted, paroled felon Conrad Black interviewed Rob Ford, alleged felon who libelled Daniel Dale, Star reporter. Conrad was subsequently grilled by Carol Off for going soft on his questions to Ford, thereby putting the drug-using, gang hanging Mayor of Toronto in  a more positivve light than his really, really sorry scenario.

Lis SSeriously, the Ontario government lecturing the Toronto District School Board on accountability – let's see, the cost of the gas plant cancellations versus the TDSB overspending … hmmm.

It seems as though all levels of governance need to be more acountable to their taxpaying base. But we do like the hand over heart sincerity…if only.

“I COULDN’T CARE LESS”

Share this post:

"I couldn't care less!" Those were the defining and defiant words from the mouth of Prime Minister Steven Harper at the opening of the Conservative Party of Canada convention. There was no apology for the confusion, corruption, or cost of the scandal enveloping the Prime Minister's Office and the Senate. There was no acceptance of responsibility for the appointment of, previous praise of, and current condemnation of his three now disgraced Senators. There was not a single clear answer or explanation to any of the direct questions that had been asked in the House of Commons by the representatives of a majority of the Canadian people.DownloadedFile

"I couldn't care less," was the response to months of confusion, prorogation, and channel changing in parliament. This current scandal has been as much about the need of an incredulous public to have an honest explanation from the Prime Minister as it has been about the accusations surrounding Senators Duffy, Wallin, and Brazeau. How is it that expenses checked and approved by the Prime Minister for Senator Wallin suddenly become worthy of an RCMP fraud charge? How is it that Senator Duffy, the PM's star crowd pleaser from the last election campaign, suddenly gets the bums rush from the Conservative Caucus and the Senate? How is it that Nigel Wright, praised by the Prime Mnister for his honesty and humanity, suddenly becomes the devil of deception?

The truth, Canada, is that there is no Captain at the helm of our ship. We have a delusional, micromanaging megalomaniac at the wheel and the ship is off course. To every question begging a responsible answer, comes the current battle cry, "Jobs, Prosperity, Growth. and the Economy, stupid, the Economy." And the party faithful rise and cheer and wave their thundersticks.

A Eurpoean Union Free-Trade deal, still to be approved by the Provinces and every separate member nation of the European Union, will not be enough to mask the stench emanating from the Prime Minister's Office. You should care a whole lot more about what the majority of Canadians think, Mr. Prime Minister. The majority of Canadians are singing along with This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and their brilliant parody song, "Tories' by Borde – check it out on YouTube – the only thing we can do right now is laugh. Until we get an honest answer.
